SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The Seahawks and Patriots arrive Sunday at Super Bowl LX having taken different paths.
Seattle built a solid roster then brought in Sam Darnold, a former No. 3 overall pick by the Jets, at quarterback this year to run the offense. New England drafted Drake Maye at No. 3 overall themselves in 2024, then built up the team around him this year with an aggressive approach in free agency.
The Seahawks hired Mike Macdonald two years ago to replace Pete Carroll, the coach who brought the team their only Super Bowl championship. Macdonald, 38, is not well known to the national audience.
The Patriots hired Mike Vrabel last year, one year after firing the legendary Bill Belichick. Vrabel, 50, is a familiar face to everyone who watches football both from his time as a player and coach of the Titans.
