The joke is on Woody Johnson after his Jets dream team delusions

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Woody Johnson’s dream team has been put to sleep.

Johnson’s Jets, stocked with a roster full of stars with Pro Bowl accolades, All-Pro honors, gaudy personal stats and even future Hall of Fame status, have officially become a nightmare.

The Jets’ disgusting 31-6 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday at State Farm Stadium has effectively ended all suspended reality about a run at a first playoff berth in 14 years.

The Jets are 3-7 now and would likely need to run the table in their final seven games to even have a sniff at a playoff berth.

(You can stop laughing now.)

The Jets came to Arizona seemingly fresh off a nine-day layoff following their win over the Texans a week ago Thursday, a game in which they looked as good as they’d looked all season in the decisive second half, scoring three TDs.

That win renewed at least a flicker of hope that the likes of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, receivers Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson, edge rusher Haason Reddick, running back Bryce Hall and the rest of the best roster Woody Johnson has ever seen wearing green might actually make something of this season.

Well, the joke’s on everyone who as much as dared to hope that might happen. But most of all, the joke’s on Johnson, the owner with a delusional sense of the mess he’s overseeing.

This latest low point surely has to be enough to send Johnson begging President Trump for a second term as his U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom so he can leave the country for another four years and not have to endure more of this nonsense.

As it’s turned out, Woody’s team of all-stars has been no team at all, and that’s the most damning element of all about these Jets.

They’re a group of independent contractors collecting bloated contracts past their prime who’ve failed miserably to mesh as a team.

And the result is the same as it’s been for the past 13 years — too much losing. Aaron Rodgers, Zach Wilson, Sam Darnold? What’s the difference? Same results. Same old Jets.

The shine on Rodgers at age 40 clearly has worn off. He looks like a dump-off quarterback who either looks afraid to throw the ball down the field or simply is unable to do so anymore.

“It’s been a lot of emotions this year, for sure,’’ Rodgers said.

Asked to elaborate on those emotions, Rodgers said, “Yeah, I’m not going to. It’s not the time or the place to get in any of that right now. Still lots in front of us.’’

Lots of questions, including whether these final seven games of garbage time will be the end of Rodgers as a Jet and perhaps of his remarkable career.

Adams arrived four games ago and conducted that emotional team speech in Pittsburgh about five minutes after he joined the team, and has made zero difference. He’s caught 17 passes for 206 yards and one TD in four games — three for 31 yards on Sunday.

“It’s frustrating,’’ Adams said. “I don’t really know what to say. It was just a weird, weird day.’’

Adams obviously had not been warned before he got here that weird things happen to the Jets.

In the win over Houston, Adams and Wilson looked like the best receiver tandem in the league. On Sunday, they combined for 11 catches and 72 silent yards.

“Given how we practiced during the week, how we went about stuff in training camp [and] what I think we have in this locker room, yeah, it’s shocking,’’ Wilson said of being 3-7. “We’re playing like trash.’’

Wilson was referring to the offense.

That brings us to the defense, which has regressed since the day head coach Robert Saleh was fired and defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich was named to replace him as the interim.

The Jets defense allowed Arizona to score on its first five possessions.

Embarrassing.

Reddick?

The last of the all-stars to arrive, he has not moved the needle on defense at all since he came crawling back from his extended contract holdout (he had two tackles and no sacks or pressures Sunday).

“Honestly, a lot of mixed feelings, lot of mixed emotions, a lot of mixed thoughts,’’ Reddick told The Post when asked how stunned he is to have joined a team full of stars and talent and see this happening. “To everybody, it’s extremely frustrating. Whatever the answer is, we just, we have to find it and we have to do it before things get too out of control.’’

Memo to Reddick: Things are already out of control, and this clearly is the beginning of the end for this band of Woody’s all-stars.

The beginning of the end for everyone involved. From general manager Joe Douglas, who’s had nearly six years to win and hasn’t. To the coaching staff. To the ballyhooed Rodgers experiment that’s gone so wrong. To virtually everyone and everything associated with the Jets.

What a nightmare.
