The biggest game in USA soccer history is kicking off on Monday afternoon, as the USA men’s national team faces off against Belgium in the Round of 16 in the 2026 World Cup.
There’s a ton of anticipation for this game, especially after everything that has heppened regarding USA star striker Folarin Balogun’s red card in USA’s last game getting suspended and Belgium’s appeal about this decision getting denied.
One player who surely wishes Balogun wasn’t able to play on Monday is Thibaut Courtois, Belgium’s goalkeeper and one of the best goalies in the world right now.
While Courtois will have his hands full against Balogun and the rest of USA’s roster on Monday, he’ll have at least a little support at the game, given that his wife, Israeli model Mishel Gerzig, has been with him throughout this World Cup.
These two got married in 2023 after initially connecting on Instagram in 2021. They currently have one daughter together, while Courtois also has two children from a previous relationship.
Gerzig has clearly been enjoying her time in the United States during this World Cup, which was conveyed with an Instagram post she made on July 4 that showed her wearing a blue bikini. The post was captioned, “Fun days in LA 🩵🌴🌅” and featured several photos of her, Courtois, and their daughter at the beach together.
Courtois clearly approved of the post, as he commented on it, “😍😍😍💙💙💙”.
It’s good to see that the Courtois family has had a good experience in the United States up until Monday, because the hope is that they’ll time in America will end in heartbreak after facing Balogun and the rest of Team USA’s attack.
