He shifted gears!
A thief stealing a car on Cape Cod, Mass. found a kilo of cocaine in the trunk and got so spooked, he reported it to cops — who then busted the dealer it belonged to, according to police.
The would-be-crook told cops he was trying to swipe a Kia parked in a commuter lot in Hyannis on Jan. 6, when he discovered the giant package of coke and “got scared,” Barnstable Police told The Boston Globe.

The felonious flip-flopper, who was not identified, first pried open the car’s steering column with a screwdriver but couldn’t get the ride to start, so he popped the trunk to look for valuables, according to the paper.
When he spotted the package of drugs — marked with the image of Bugs Bunny chomping a carrot — he became spooked by the apparent possibility of running afoul of a dealer and notified police, according to cops.
He initially lied to police, saying he found the coke on the side of a road, then confessed to the real story, according to cops. It wasn’t immediately clear if police filed charges against him.

Officers then set up a camera near the car and on Jan. 8 busted Edward Gillespie, 62, for trafficking the drugs from Hyannis to Nantucket, police said in a statement.
Cops ultimately seized 1,141 grams of cocaine — well over a kilo — along with 68 grams of amphetamine pills, and roughly $10,000 in cash.
