Trump not expected at Ground Zero on 9/11 — will commemorate 25th anniversary of terrorist attacks at Pentagon

President Trump plans to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks at the Pentagon next month, The Post has learned.

Trump is not expected to attend the Manhattan memorial service held annually at Ground Zero, the site of the World Trade Center towers that were brought down by the two hijacked airplanes, according to a source familiar.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Trump had been expected to be part of the Ground Zero ceremony as recently as Aug. 14, sources said.

It’s unclear why the president’s plans changed.

The anniversary of the attacks that killed 2,977 people falls on the day after the conclusion of the Republican Party’s two-day midterm convention in Dallas, which Trump plans to attend.

The president is also scheduled to be in Ireland on Sept. 12 and 13, where he will meet with US embassy workers and business leaders before attending the Irish Open golf tournament at his course in Doonbeg.

The New York Times reported that part of the reason Trump opted against going to Manhattan to mark 9/11 is because organizers of the ceremony refused to allow him to deliver remarks.

Vice President JD Vance is expected to attend the New York City ceremony, according to the outlet.

Since 2012, the National September 11 Memorial and Museum has barred politicians from giving speeches at Ground Zero.

The New York City ceremony will include six moments of silence to solemnly commemorate the key times of the attacks, including when both World Trade Center towers were struck and fell, and the times of the attack on the Pentagon and the crash of Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pa.

Family members will then read the names of the fallen loved ones.
