When I pause to consider what the desperate state of Rob Manfred’s MLB would be had it not instituted Gay Pride Games, I shudder at the consequences.

Many have been the times when gay friends and loved ones threatened to never spend another dime to attend a big league game and/or cancel their expensive cable subscriptions to out-of-market games unless their homosexuality was conspicuously approved and saluted before and during MLB games.

I can count them on less than one finger.

So, when the Dodgers celebrated Gay Pride Night by featuring and rewarding five fat, bearded men — slobs — dressed as nuns to mock fading Catholic doctrine against homosexuality — a brazen and intentional pregame insult to a major U.S. religion — my gay friends lined up to declare, “There, that’s better! That made us proud!”
