Vanderbilt fans had to be running on pure adrenaline.

After the Commodores upset top-ranked Alabama, 40-35, on Saturday in Nashville, fans tore down a goalpost at FirstBank Stadium and carried it more than three miles to the Cumberland River, where they tossed it into the water, as seen in videos on social media.

Vanderbilt fans, including many with their shirts off, shut down Broadway as they marched through cars in the street.

Music was blasting in the town as fans made their way to the river — and lights from police cars flashed through the crowd of people.

Fans started cheering when they tossed the goalpost in the river and then many took off amid police sirens.

Sunday’s historic win over the Crimson Tide marked Vanderbilt’s first win over a top-ranked program.

They entered the game with just two SEC wins since the end of the 2019 season.

A sea of fans in purple rushed the field while “A Bar Song” by Shaboozey was blasting over the speakers at the stadium.

During the Nick Saban era — the storied coach retired in January after 17 seasons — Vanderbilt scored 13 total points against Alabama across four games, according to ESPN.

The Commodores scored 13 points in the first quarter of Saturday’s contest.

The famed coach, who joined ESPN as an analyst, trolled Vanderbilt two weeks before they upset Alabama during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

Quarterback Diego Pavia, who transferred to Vanderbilt from New Mexico State, completed 16 of 20 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 56 yards on 20 carries.
