These drinking celebrations have gone to a new level.
During the Raiders’ 33-30 loss to the Bills on Sunday, Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin approached the Raiders fans at Allegiant Stadium and used someone’s beer as a prop.
As Hamlin and a group of his teammates were approaching the fans sitting behind the endzone, the Bills safety grabbed the beer, pretended to toast the fan, and then drink their beer.
While Hamlin didn’t actually drink the beer, the fan he stole it from enjoyed the moment with the Bills safety as he was heard cheering him on by shouting, “Hey, let’s go, Damar!”
Hamlin continued on with his antics by going up to another fan and making an attempt to steal one of their beers as well.
The news of Hamlin pretending to drink a beer as part of a celebration comes nearly a month after San Francisco 49ers full back Kyle Juszczyk, Colts guard Matt Goncalves, and Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson were all suspended for doing “beer chugging” celebrations.
Juszczyk was fined the highest among the three as he was fined $14,296 for his iconic juice chugging celebration.
Juszczyk found out about his fine on September, 24. when he received a letter from the league that claimed his celebration “constituted an offensive demonstration and could reasonably be construed as being in poor taste.”
The 49ers fullback immediately began the appeal process for his fine, as he said, “I don’t even drink beer.”
Given Hamlin’s actions, he will likely be facing a fine with a figure similar, if not more than, Juszczyk’s.
While Buffalo spent the last three quarters of the game leading Las Vegas, Sunday’s win didn’t come easy.
The Bills looked like they had the game nearly put away after Tyler Bass drilled a 38-yard field goal with two minutes left in the game to give them a 33-23 lead in the fourth quarter.
But the Raiders had other plans.
On the Bills 44-yard line, the Raiders were looking to find a way to keep going down the field, but quarterback Kirk Cousins had other plans.
Cousins connected with Tre Tucker for their second touchdown of the game on a 44-yard pass in the middle of the field to cut the Raiders’ deficit by three.
Las Vegas attempted an onside kick after the big play, but the Bills would end up recovering it.
Buffalo held on to the ball for the rest of the game and would wind out the clock.
Hamlin finished the game with five tackles, logging three of them as solo.
