WNBA Trans Nightmare Worsens: 6’3″ Man Wants to Join, Steven A. Smith Blasts League, Teams Dared to Play High School Boys with $10m Prize

The WNBA is proving that it’s the league that can’t get out of its own way.

Fresh off a series of Caitlin Clark-related controversies which have the odor of racist violence about them, Clark’s Indiana Fever teammate, Sophie Cunningham, is being berated because she believes men are men and women are women, and furthermore that men don’t belong in women’s sports.

Wokeistas in the WNBA came out in force, including Minnesota Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve, who wore a shirt in the Lynx’s recent game against the Fever which read “Trans Kids Belong.”

Well, not only did that get ridiculed by sports pundit Stephen A. Smith, it might also get put to the test by a 6’3″ man who identifies as a woman, has been lighting up French women’s basketball, and says he wants to play in the WNBA someday.

Julie Tétart is 34, usually the age when most athletes are thinking about hanging up their cleats. However, he’s been dominating France’s Ligue 2 — the second-tier in women’s basketball — leading in both scoring and rebounding.

Social media users are calling on a WNBA team to sign transgender French basketball player Julie Tétart, who averages 21 points per game.

Tétart, who came out as trans in 2021, is a 6’3” machine, averaging 20 rebounds per game.

And despite playing in a woke country, the Daily Mail reported that “Tetart’s stellar statistical season drew mixed reactions in France.”

“Media and fan uproar ensued after [he] was bypassed for Ligue 2 MVP honors, though [he] was ultimately recognized as Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Domestic Player of the Year.”

Tétart, who began identifying as female in 2021, says he dreams of playing in the WNBA, although he acknowledged he has a long ways to go.

“If they contact me, I won’t say no. But you have to be realistic: I’m old, and there are far better players than me!” he said in an interview with OutKick.

Well, he averaged 21 points and 20 rebounds a game for a Monaco club team, which are insane statistics for a 34-year-old until you factor in the biological advantage.

And while the folks on ESPN’s broadcast team talks up trans rights in women’s sports, network pundit Stephen A. Smith ain’t having it.

“Ladies and gentlemen, at some point in time, there has to be the return of common sense. This is not about preaching hate. Nobody is supporting that,” Smith said on his YouTube show, according to the Daily Mail.

“This is not about looking at people who are trans and hating on them or wanting denied this them denied their civil rights and civil liberties.”

And, as for the coach who pulled the stunt: “You are Cheryl Reeve. The head coach of the Minnesota Lynx. That is an irresponsible thing to do,” he said.

“You are a coach for a female basketball team. Do you not think that the females are being screwed over if they have to compete against an individual born as a male? What are you talking about? You trying to tell me that a college player, for the men’s, should transition to a woman and be allowed to play in the WNBA or on a collegiate level to a women’s college program? What the hell are you talking about?”

And this, of course, isn’t even counting OutKick’s Clay Travis offering $10 million for the Las Vegas Aces, the WNBA champion, to play a high school boys’ team.

They’re not taking the bait for a very good reason: They’d lose.

The trans issue is a losing issue for politicians, and they don’t even run sports leagues. The WNBA, meanwhile, seems to believe that it’s subsidized propaganda for woke causes, especially in the LGBT realm. And just as people were getting interested in the league, too. It’s like they don’t even want the success.

The WNBA has its best chance for popularity and even greatness since its founding, and the league is wasting it all because it wants to be politically correct. Nice work.
