CLEVELAND — The Yankees have lost Ian Hamilton for the rest of the playoffs, with Mark Leiter Jr. taking his spot on the ALCS roster Friday.

Hamilton was axed from the Yankees’ roster after suffering a calf injury while covering first base during Thursday’s Game 3.

The reliever tried to throw a warmup pitch and said he felt his calf grab on him, at which point he left the game with a trainer and was set to undergo imaging Friday.

Because the Yankees are replacing him on the roster, Hamilton is ineligible for the World Series if the Yankees make it there.

Leiter had been left off the ALDS and ALCS rosters after struggling down the stretch following a trade from the Cubs at the deadline.

The right-hander pitched to a 4.98 ERA across 21 games with the Yankees, allowing six home runs in 21 ⅔ innings. He has the potential to get swing-and-miss but was hurt too often by the slug.

The injury marks the end of a frustrating season for Hamilton, who also missed nearly three months during the regular season with a strained lat.
