Before and after: Devastation of Pacific Palisades shown in heartbreaking photos

New aerial photos show the total destruction of the once vibrant Los Angeles neighborhood known as the Pacific Palisades, large parts of which were burned to ash and dust during the historic wildfires.

The celebrity-laden community once featured beautiful, million-dollar homes, palm trees, and every colorful subtly that contributes to an idyllic suburban setting.

Now, jarring photos show the neighborhood resembles a bombed-out warzone with grey smoke rising from the charred remains of rectangular lots that just days ago had a median value of $2 million.

The devastation was captured by drone Wednesday after the dangerous Santa Ana winds died down, allowing for the much-needed water-dropping helicopters and planes to take flight.
