Grammy-award winning artist Beyoncé will close out the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Thursday, according to TMZ.
The “Crazy in Love” singer will perform on the same night that Vice President Kamala Harris will address Democratic delegates at the United Center.
Chicago police are reportedly “on high alert” and have been “involved in security” related to Beyonce’s expected appearance, according to the outlet.
Rumors have been flying in the Windy City since Wednesday about who tonight’s surprise guest could be.
Aside from Beyonce, social media users have also speculated that pop superstar Taylor Swift could make a surprise appearance.
A DJ at the DNC played Swift’s “Shake it Off” inside the United Center during a brief commercial break, pouring fuel on the fire of speculation that the pop superstar could be a special guest tonight – but that guess appears to have been incorrect.
It’s unknown which song Beyonce will choose to perform from her vast catalog, which includes nine Billboard No. 1 hits.
Her 2016 tune “Freedom” has been featured prominently in the convention’s main programming. Delegates throughout the week have also been dressing in costume as “Cowboy Kamala” – a reference to the former Destiny’s Child member’s latest album, “Cowboy Carter.”
“Queen Bey” supported President Biden and Harris in the 2020 election, as well as raised money for former President Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign.
Country artists The Chicks and pop star P!NK are also slated to perform on the DNC’s closing night.
Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Lil Jon and Maren Morris have been among the musical acts entertaining delegates in between political speeches.
