Costa Rican authorities have released the body of Miller Gardner, the 14-year-old son of former New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner who died suddenly during a family vacation at a local resort.

Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigations Police confirmed to The Post on Sunday that the body was released to the grieving family Wednesday and that authorities continue to investigate the teen’s mysterious death at the Arenas Del Mar Beachfront and Rainforest Resort at Manual Antonio National Park.

Brett and his wife Jessica Gardner and their two sons, Miller and Hunter, became ill after eating at a local restaurant March 20, and Miller was treated by the hotel’s medical staff, according to police.

The next day, Miller was found dead in his bed after vomiting.

The teen was initially thought to have died from asphyxiation caused by food poisoning, but that cause was then ruled out, and the medical examiner’s office said it is still awaiting toxicology tests to find out exactly what he died from.

In an exclusive interview with The Post last week, Dr. Kevin Gannon, who runs the nearby Manuel Antonio Urgent Care center, said his staff was called to the hotel that morning and found Miller “unresponsive.

“We tested him for cardiac arrest and performed CPR for more than 30 minutes,” Gannon said. “There was not really much we could significantly do.”

The doctor raised doubts about speculation that the teenager died as a result of food poisoning or from an allergic reaction to medication he was given by the hospital medics.

Authorities said test results to determine what killed Miller could take as long as three months.

The teen’s tragic death drew international headlines and shook up the Yankees, who held a moment of silence in honor of Miller during opening-day ceremonies last week.

Brett Gardner, 41, was a popular player on the team, where he spent his entire 14-year major league career, including playing on the Bronx Bombers’ 2009 World Series championship team.
