CBS journalist bashes New York Times for coverage of Trump’s 2024 win: ‘NYT doesn’t understand nation’

A veteran CBS News reporter called out the New York Times for a headline about President-elect Donald Trump’s landslide victory that she claims flaunts the newspaper’s disconnection to the American public.

Journalist and author Jan Crawford took to X to criticize the Gray Lady after they published a headline about Trump’s decisive win over Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday.

“TRUMP’S AMERICA,” the Times headline reads with a subhead stating, “VICTORY CHANGES NATION’S SENSE OF ITSELF.”

Crawford took exception to the newspaper’s choice of words.

“Ummm. Isn’t the headline here ‘Victory Reveals NYT Doesn’t Understand Nation.’”

X users agreed with her edit.

One commenter wrote, “They are so out of touch. They don’t even realize that the only thing that has changed is THEIR perception of the nation. Just like the Obamas, they are so disappointed in us.”

“The blue bubble elite have been out of touch for several years,” wrote another.

This headline is a continuation of the paper of record’s critical coverage of President-elect Trump, portraying him in articles as a wannabe fascist.

The Times ran the headline “America Hires a Strongman,” on Wednesday.

“This was a conquering of the nation not by force but with a permission slip,” the Times wrote. “Now, America stands on the precipice of an authoritarian style of governance never before seen in its 248-year history.”

In an editorial from the same day, the Gray Lady suggested that Trump poses a threat to the rights of citizens and the integrity of government institutions.

“Whatever drove this decision among these voters, however, all Americans should now be wary of an incoming Trump administration that is likely to put a top priority on amassing unchecked power and punishing its perceived enemies, both of which Mr. Trump has repeatedly vowed to do,” brayed the Times.

Critics suggest that these types of statements are evidence that the Times is unable to maintain journalistic objectivity when it comes to the subject of Donald Trump.

Trump won both the Electoral College and the popular vote in Tuesday’s election.
