Chilling footage captures NYC bystanders fleeing for their lives in brazen grocery shooting

Chilling video footage captures the moment bystanders run for their lives during a brazen shooting at a Bronx bodega Monday that wounded six — including a mom who was used as a human shield and her young daughter.

Passers-by are seen dashing down White Plains Road when the shots rang out at G&W Grocery around 4:50 p.m., the video footage obtained by The Post shows.

A local shopkeeper ended up pulling an elderly woman inside his store for safety as the suspects fled.

Police said at a Monday night briefing that the gunmen chased two men into the bodega and opened fire — with the cowardly targets grabbing the 40-year-old mom and using her as a shield as shots rang out.

The mother was shot in the stomach, while her 12-year-old daughter was hit in the right thigh, police said.

“If you can imagine, mom and daughter up against the counter, and the two intended targets come in and bump into them and turn the mother around as they are being shot at,” NYPD Chief of Department John Chell said at the briefing.

The chief called the shooting “heartless” and said cops are trying to determine a motive.

Four other people — all men ranging in age from 18 to 21 — were also hit, suffering various injuries in the legs, arms and buttocks. The victims were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

“After the shots, people started running,” said a witness named Adama, who works at a local grocery down the block. “I had three customers in here, and they ran. One customer got his food, and then he ran. The other two customers, they didn’t wait. They were scared.

“When you hear something like that — boom, boom — usually it’s shooting,” said Adama, 29. “I stood there. I didn’t go outside. It’s not safe.”

The surveillance video shows one man running from the scene, moments before two other people are seen fleeing down the block as well.

Police said the suspects remain at large while the investigation continues.
