A suspected DUI driver has crashed his $100,000 Land Rover Defender into a backyard swimming pool — and the photos look straight out of a movie.

San Mateo Police Department shared the bizarre pictures the luxury SUV dangling from a crane as they scooped it out of the water on Thursday night.

Authorities said the driver reportedly lost control of the car and plowed through a section of fence before becoming submerged in the pool.

The suspect, whose identity has not been released to the public, was taken into custody without incident. They now face multiple charges, including DUI and hit and run, according to SMPD.

San Mateo officers did not provide an estimate for the total damage caused by the crash.

“Last night, our officers responded to what we can only describe as an unexpected pool party,” the San Mateo Police Department wrote on social media Friday.

“Unfortunately, the guest of honor arrived uninvited…and in a vehicle. Through quick investigation, our officers located the suspect vehicle resting peacefully in a resident’s backyard swimming pool after first taking out a section of fence.

“While we appreciate creative parking attempts, this one does not meet city code,” the statement continued.

Police used the incident as a cautionary tale, reminding the public about the dangers of drinking and driving.

“We urge residents to use a designated driver or rideshare if they’ve been drinking,” SMPD added. “Scenes like this can be dangerous and costly — not to mention completely avoidable.”
