North Carolina’s Democrat gubernatorial candidate Roy Cooper has “never” offered an explanation for letting thousands of criminals out of jail during the coronavirus pandemic, Republican Senate candidate Michael Whatley said during an appearance on Breitbart News Daily.
“Roy Cooper has blood on his hands,” the former RNC chairman said, as the former governor released “4,200 hardened criminals.”
“We’re talking the worst of the worst. We’re talking rapists. We’re talking pedophiles. We’re talking murderers out of North Carolina jails because he didn’t want them to get COVID,” Whatley said, noting that one of those criminals rose to the national spotlight after murdering Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska one year ago.
“It was on a Friday night a year ago that she got off work. A beautiful young Ukrainian refugee got off work at 11 o’clock, working in a pizzeria, got on a Charlotte light rail car, and Decarlos Brown Jr. just absolutely brutally murdered her without any provocation,” Whatley said. “That monster should not have been on the streets. That monster should not have been on that light rail car, and that beautiful young lady should be alive today. And her blood is on Roy Cooper’s hands.”
Whatley noted that Cooper has “never offered an explanation of why he let these criminals out of jail.”
“He’s never offered an explanation of why, you know, he felt important enough to release these prisoners. The only governor in the country who did that, and he’s never apologized to the families of their victims. He’s never apologized to Iryna’s family or any of the others,” he said, noting that there are two dozen other families who have “had someone killed by the criminals that Roy Cooper let out.”
And that is not all.
“And there are you know 99 other criminals he let out who went on and and were re-arrested for child pornography and sexual assault and rape charges as well,” Whatley revealed. “I mean, the list goes on and on and on. 2,200 of the criminals that he released have been re-arrested since he put them back on the streets. It’s absolutely unexplainable.”
