FIFA World Cup tickets rush turns into chaos as website crashes out: ‘absolute joke’

Soccer fans looking for a life-changing 2026 FIFA World Cup experience are finding disappointment so far.

The FIFA World Cup ticket site has faced crashes and delays as fans try to purchase tickets to see their favorite teams.

Last-minute ticket sales opened 8 a.m. PT Wednesday, and many fans were in for a wait to get tickets to the 48-team tournament. Unlike the other ticket phases, tickets were sold on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The last phase would be the final chance for fans to purchase tickets outside of the re-sale market.

Fans reported waiting on the “In Queue” screen for ages. Some called the tournament an “absolute joke” for the wait.

“Is everyone just sitting on this page still for fifa World Cup tickets,” one X commenter said.

“Has anyone had any luck with the Last Minute FIFA World Cup tickets sale? I’ve been on the same queue page for 15 minutes with 0 updates or movement… Slowly giving up hope on getting my parents to a World Cup game,” another fan noted.

“Anyone else hanging out in the last Minute FIFA World Cup tickets queue?” a third said.

The site appears to be normal now after an very large initial traffic spike.

The FIFA World Cup will see Los Angeles host 8 matches including the U.S. Men’s National Team’s opening match in June.
