Virginia police had to think outside the box when they booked pro cornhole competitor Dayton Webber, a quadruple amputee with no lower arms or legs, on charges of murdering a friend during a late-night joyride.
Webber was arrested Monday in Albemarle County, Virginia for allegedly killing Bradrick Michael Wells, a 27-year-old new dad, and ditching his body in his Maryland hometown the night before.
It’s not immediately clear how officers detained Webber, who can’t be handcuffed on account of having no hands.
When he arrived at the Albemarle County Police Department, police also struggled to appropriately log his nonexistent fingerprints and resorted to imprinting the ends of his arm stumps, TMZ reported.
Albemarle-Charlottesville Superintendent Martin Kumer told the outlet that it is routine to record the indentation of wherever an appendage ends whenever an amputee is arrested for the first time.
Webber, 27, is currently awaiting extradition from Virginia to Maryland, where he will face charges for first- and second-degree murder.
The pro cornhole player allegedly shot and killed Wells, who was sitting in the front passenger seat of a Tesla SUV driven by Webber, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.
The other two passengers scrambled out of the backseat when Webber pulled over. He ditched them on the side of the road when they refused to help drag Wells out of the car, police said.
Webber drove off with Wells’ body, which was later found dumped in a yard on Newport Church Road in Charlotte Hall, Maryland.
Webber was later tracked down at a hospital in Albemarle County. His Tesla was found in Charlottesville, Virginia — more than 100 miles away from Charlotte Hall.
The accused killer had both his lower arms and legs amputated as an infant after he was stricken with a life-threatening bacterial infection so severe that he was given the last rites.
Despite his disability, Webber went on to pursue various outdoor sports throughout his youth and adulthood, from fishing and sledding to bow hunting and motocross, his social media feeds reveal.
He also played football, wrestled and raced go-karts before finding his true calling in the American Cornhole League.
Outside of athletics, Webber had a passion for guns, which he often posted about online. In one video, he loads a magazine and rapid-fires a 9mm handgun while using the nub of his amputated arm to pull the trigger.
Webber titled the video “No Hands No Feet Shooting 9mm Handgun!!!!”
He could face up to life in prison on the first-degree murder charge alone.
