You don’t need rhythm to shake things up in politics!
Hundreds of people flocked to Staten Island Friday for a post-Turkey Day “Trump Dance” flash mob — declaring they want the dancing president-elect to bust some big policy moves on day one.
More than 200 revelers grooved to the soon-to-be commander-in-chief’s signature shimmy — which involves arrhythmically punching the air while swaying his hips — as “YMCA” by The Village People blasted.
“The dance says you don’t have to take yourself seriously all the time,” said Staten Island Borough President Vito Fossella, who cut a rug at the event. “The dance has taken on a life of itself.”
President-elect Donald Trump’s campaign trail boogie went viral earlier this month after professional athletes borrowed it as a celebratory move.
Social media was then flooded with footage of folks, ranging from celebrities to fraternity brothers, mimicking the move.
“It’s truly iconic,” retired firefighter Jimmy Aylward, 59, said of the dance. “I just want to see him get inaugurated.”
Aylward said he supports Trump’s immigration plan to enact mass deportations and expand the US-Mexico border wall soon after taking office.
“They gotta go first,” he said of undocumented immigrants.
Trump supporter Jennifer Tagliavia, 56, said she shook a leg to celebrate Trump’s sweeping presidential victory.
“I think anything he does has gone viral,” she said of the dance.
She added that Trump should fix the flood of migrants coming over the border starting on day one.
“Get them out. If you want to come here, you come here legally,” she said.
The president-elect should also work on boosting the economy and cracking down on criminals.
“No more hugs for thugs, fix the crime,” said Tagliavia.
She was wearing a t-shirt that read, “Extreme MAGA Trash Bag” — a tongue-in-cheek reference to Biden’s bungled comments about Trump supporters being “garbage.”
Other flash mob-goers shimmied through a conga line and waved Trump flags while boogying to the beat. Prizes for dancers included garbage can trophies and a Trump doll at the Midland Beach Splaza.
A flier for the flash mob proclaims, “Shake off your Thanksgiving turkey with the dance that’s sweeping the nation… It’s gonna be Huuuge.”
Trump began busting the signature move to “YMCA” at campaign rallies earlier this year, fueling a wave of media coverage and imitators on social media.
On Thursday, he posted a video on X showing himself popping out of a Turkey and dancing.
