LI dad leaves 2-year-old son in car amid 100-degree temps — to shop at Walmart: cops

A Long Island dad left his 2-year-old son in a car for about 20 minutes during Tuesday’s life-threatening 100-degree temps — so he could go shopping at Walmart, police said.

Keniarold Andre, 36, allegedly abandoned the tot inside the Toyota Highlander — with a window cracked only a few inches and the engine off — in a Centereach Walmart parking lot around 1:40 p.m. in the sweltering record-breaking heat, according to authorities.

An eagle-eyed good Samaritan noticed the boy sleeping and called 911.

Cops were able to unlock the car through the window and rescue the kid, the Suffolk County Police Department said.

Andre returned to the car as EMTs were checking on his son.

He was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

The boy was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment and was listed in stable condition, police said.
