Man’s fatal plunge from Times Square hotel window was tragic accident: cops

A man who fatally plunged from a Times Square hotel accidentally fell out a window, police said this week.

Emmanuel Velez’s body was discovered just after 6:45 a.m. on April 6 on the roof of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis HS at 120 West 46th St. after he plummeted from the 15th floor of 45 Times Square, according to police sources.

Velez, 39, was homeless and staying at the hotel on West 45th Street near Seventh Avenue, where rooms fetch an average $279 a night, the sources said.

Authorities were seen taking a red-haired woman in for questioning outside of the 16-floor hotel shortly after the incident. No arrests were made.

Guests told The Post they heard strange noises coming from Velez’s room.

“This morning I woke up to some noise, somebody was shouting,” said an Italian tourist who gave his name as Davide. “I heard some lady . . . shouting that someone needs to come back, because I heard the noise, ‘Come back! Come back! Come back!’”

Guests were jolted awake.

Anna Katsrarou, a German tourist who was staying on the 14th floor, said she heard what sounded like a “big table” landing on a surface.

“Then someone was crying, ‘Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God!” and then I heard police,” she said.

Velez’s family could not be reached.
