Nassau County leader lauds Trump for executive order defining sex as ‘male or female’ only

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman — who banned transgender athletes from competing in girls sports on his turf — lauded President Trump’s executive order Monday defining sex as “male or female” only.

“President Trump’s order will bring sanity after four years of attacks on women’s sports, safety and privacy,” Blakeman said following Trump’s order, announced during the 47th president’s inaugural speech.

During his inaugural speech, Trump said: “there are only two genders — male and female.”

Trump’s edict requires government agencies to use the “immutable” designation on forms and IDs and prevents people from changing their sex on US passports — which currently allow for holders to choose male, female or “X.”

It also aims to ban medical transition treatment for prisoners in federal prisons.

The executive order is expected to be challenged in the courts.

Blakeman has also faced opposition in the form of lawsuits to his edict banning transgender athletes from participating in women and girls’ sports at county-owned athletic facilities.

The ban was backed by one of the world’s most famous trans public figures, ex-Olympic champion Caitlyn Jenner.

The former athlete — né Bruce Jenner, who won the 1976 gold medal for the decathlon and famously appeared on the cover of the Wheaties cereal box — said that biological males should not be allowed to compete in female sports in order to “protect the integrity of competition.”

Trump campaigned against biological males who identify as transgender from competing in girls sports, and vowed to end “transgender lunacy.”

Transgender activists slammed Trump’s order aimed at wiping out transgenderism as bigoted.

“Trump is one of the most evil people who appeals to bigots. He’s like a man who enjoys pulling wings off butterflies,” said Allen Roskoff, president of the Jim Owles Liberal Democratic LGBT Club.

“This is a very dangerous act that could destroy lives,” he said.
