Newly released body cam footage captured a respected Florida doctor accused of sexually exploiting young girls — including a 13-year-old who hanged herself — being pulled over and arrested in front of his mother-in-law and wife, a kids’ mental-health specialist.
Palliative care specialist Dr. Stephen Andrew, 59, was in Georgia on Dec. 19 when he was made to pull over to the side of the I-575, the newly released video shows.
“I’m sorry, what’s going on?” the casually dressed doctor asks officers, who tell him to “put your hands behind your back” and immediately ‘cuff him.
“I’m assuming this is a case of mistaken identity,” the confused-looking doctor says. “I’m a physician.”
Leedy has since been charged for allegedly forcing 10 girls to send him sexually explicit photos and urging them to “cut, choke and hang themselves” — leading to the unidentified 13-year-old’s tragic death, according to officials. If convicted, he faces a life sentence in federal prison.
He has also had his medical license suspended by Florida Surgeon General Joseph Lapado for his “vile, reprehensible, and sadistic conduct of directing children to engage in degrading sex acts, self-harm, and mutilation,” the Tampa Bay Times reported.
The arrest video shows the doctor’s wife, Lynda Leedy — who helps lead a mental-health welfare group for kids — looking confused at why her husband was being arrested.
At one point she got out of the passenger seat of the car, where her mom — the accused perv’s mother-in-law — remained in the back seat.
The Holly Springs cop could only tell her that her husband was being taken to jail on a warrant.
“If he wants to tell you that information from the jail he can but I don’t tell other individuals what his warrant’s for,” the officer said.
Leedy was taken to Fayette County Jail where US Marshalls took him into custody in Atlanta, WFLA reported.
Leedy is expected to be transported back to Tampa to face his charges which include three counts of production of child sexual abuse material and two counts of coercing or enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity.
Leedy is accused of using the username “maximumuncle#9112” to prey on roughly 10 children in a sickening, years-long alleged crime spree, according to the Justice Department.
The doctor allegedly instructed the minors in online texts to “produce sexually explicit images of themselves and directed them to cut, choke, and hang themselves.”
In one incident in Nov. 2022, a 13-year-old girl was found to have hanged herself in a bathroom in front of her phone with officials pointing to the manner being consistent with what Leedy’s apparent directions ordered her to.
A search of her phone later uncovered sexually charged chats with Leedy — during which he convinced her to engage in “daily hangings,” prosecutors allege.
“The weight of evidence against Leedy is extremely strong,” the filings state. “Leedy very clearly engaged in this precatory behavior with approximately 10 minors across the country.
“He had absolutely no disregard for their safety and took advantage of children more than half his age to gratify himself.”
Leedy has been practicing medicine in the Sunshine State since 1991, Florida Department of Health records show.
