This newlywed couple’s honeymoon destination was the slammer.
A Michigan bride and groom have been charged with mowing down and killing their groomsman on their wedding day, cops said.
James Douglas Shirah, 22, and his bride Savanah Nicole Collier, 21, were celebrating their special day at a Flint pizzeria on Aug. 30 when their groomsman Terry Lewis Taylor, 29, was later found with “severe injuries” from a crash, according to police and prosecutors.
“After the wedding, he was involved in an argument which led to him being intentionally struck by a large SUV that was traveling at a high rate of speed and driven by the groom,” police said.
Taylor later died in a hospital.
The bride and groom fled the scene but were both soon arrested, officials said.
Shirah has been charged with one count of second-degree murder, officials said.
Meanwhile, the bride wore orange — a jumpsuit — in her mug shot after being charged with one count of accessory to a felony, according to court records.
“I’ve never seen anything quite like this,” said David Leyton, who is in his 20th year as county prosecutor. “I’ve seen people running over other people but not so soon after a wedding.”
At their separate arraignments, Shirah was held in jail without bond and Collier posted $1,000 of her $4,000 bond Wednesday.
The dead groomsman was a dad of three — and expected a fourth with fiancee Nikki Robinson, according to a GoFundMe.
“We (myself and his family) are trying to give him the burial that he wanted and deserves. He was an amazing person so many people love him. This was completely unexpected and a lot of lives are effected by this loss,” Robinson wrote.
Taylor “loved fishing since birth, riding bikes and four wheelers… his music, his children, his family and friends, his dog Kodiak and eating some good food,” according to his obituary.
