Nicolás Maduro, his family, cronies hit with narco-terrorism, weapons charges: SDNY indictment

The indictment from the Southern District of New York named ex-despot Nicolás Maduro, his wife, son, government officials — and the leader of narco-terrorist group Tren de Aragua, who will all be tried in Manhattan.

Maduro, along with his wife Cilia Flores, is being transported to the Big Apple after being arrested in a daring nighttime raid by combined US military and law enforcement authorities in Caracas on Saturday.

The indictment alleged Maduro ran a “corrupt, illegitimate government” which has “leveraged government power to protect and promote illegal activity, including drug trafficking.”

“In sum, Maduro Moros and his co-conspirators have, for decades, partnered with some of the most violent and prolific drug traffickers and narco-terrorists in the world, and relied on corrupt officials throughout the region, to distribute tons of cocaine to the United States,” the indictment stated.

The drug schemes were allegedly coordinated by Maduro with notorious narco-terrorists from Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC), the Sinaloa Cartel, the Zetas, and Tren de Aragua.

Hector Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, also known as Nino Guerrero, the head of Tren de Aragua, was also named in the indictment alongside the former head of state.

Maduro, his wife, and Guerrero Flores are charged with narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy, possession of machineguns and destructive devices, and conspiracy to possess machineguns and destructive devices against the United States.

“They will soon face the full wrath of American justice on American soil in American courts,” Attorney General Pam Bondi wrote on X.

The charges against Maduro, and his cronies are all the same which registered in the SDNY in 2020, but the new charges include his wife and son.

Nicolas Ernesto Maduro Guerra, Maduro’s son who’s known as “The Prince,” is being charged alongside his parents for the illegal trafficking of thousands of tons of cocaine.

Maduro Guerra has been charged with conspiracy to import cocaine and conspiracy to possess machine guns, court documents revealed.

The younger Maduro was appointed by his father to a bespoke position of “Head of the Corps of Special Inspectors of the Presidency” shortly after the elder Maduro assumed power in 2013 and allegedly worked as an organizer of illegal drug trafficking activities.

The DOJ alleged that Maduro Guerra, along with the other defendants, partnered with narcotics traffickers and narco-terrorist groups that dispatched cocaine shipments to the US, killing 300,000 people a year, according to President Trump.

The defiant dictator’s son would allegedly travel twice a month to Margarita Island between 2014 and 2015 — with the state-owned plane he was using loaded up with drugs to be brought back to the mainland, the DOJ alleged.

In 2017, Maduro Guerra allegedly shipped hundreds of pounds of cocaine from Venezuela to Miami, Florida, by shipping containers.

While there, he discussed with drug-trafficking partners to send low-quality cocaine to New York, the indictment alleged.

Here’s the latest on Nicolás Maduro’s capture:

Maduro Guerra traveled to Medellin, Colombia, in 2020 to map out the next six years of drug-trafficking activity through the Central American country into the US.

Two former Venezuelan ministers of the interior, justice and peace — Diosdado Cabello Rondon and Ramon Rodriguez Chachin — were also named in the indictment and alleged to have been personally enriched by the drug-trafficking activities.

The corrupt government officials facilitated the Maduro regime’s coordination with narco-terrorist organizations, working to ship cargo containers full of cocaine — sometimes with each containing as much as 20 tons — to the United States through ports in Mexico.

Rondon and Chachin are both charged with narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy, possession of machineguns and destructive devices, and conspiracy to possess machineguns and destructive devices.
