NYPD calls death at Queens low-income housing building ‘suspicious’

A man was found dead in his bedroom with injuries to the back of his head and face at a low income housing building in Far Rockaway, Queens, cops said Saturday.

The man, 59, who wasn’t publicly identified, was found by an employee at the Barbara Faron Residence at 20-50 Nameoke Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Friday, according to police.

It wasn’t clear how long the man had been dead, but a resident said a janitor contacted cops after smelling a foul odor, according to a resident.

“They were cleaning the hallway and noticed the smell coming from the apartment, that’s how they found him,” said a 42-year-old mom who declined to give her name.

The building houses “formerly homeless people in recovery from behavioral health disorders” along with low-income families, according to information online.

The resident said the man was often heard arguing with a woman who visited him.
