Some heroes wear blue!
An NYPD chief is being widely praised for his heroism after jumping into action to take down two alleged wannabe terrorists — just moments after they hurled bombs outside Gracie Mansion.
A heart-stopping photo of Chief Aaron Edwards leaping over a barricade amid the chaos has exploded on social media, racking up millions of views and heaps of praise for his brave actions.

“Some heroes wear capes — Chief Aaron Edwards wears blue,” the NYPD said as it blasted out the iconic black-and-white image.
The image spurred a wave of gratitude for the police chief.
“Hero mode activated — God bless this man and all NYPD! Into danger without pause,” one person commented.
“Chief Aaron Edwards deserves a raise and a medal. When others were running away from danger, he was running toward it — ready to risk everything so others could live. That’s what real courage looks like,” another gushed.
“Thank you Chief Aaron Edwards for helping restore my faith in humanity, and heroism,” others said.
Another added: “Give this man a medal and make this a recruitment ad!”
Edwards and fellow NYPD cop Sgt. Luis Navarro both ran toward the danger after witnessing the two suspects — Emir Balat, 18, and Ibrahim Kayumi, 19 — allegedly try to detonate IEDs during a chaotic anti-Muslim demonstration and counter-protest outside the mayoral residence on Saturday.
A series of chilling photos captured the moment the two alleged extremists ignited the devices and dropped them close to where several NYPD officers were standing, according to authorities.
Edwards could be seen jumping over the barricade as smoke from one IED was filling the air.

Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch led the praise for two of New York’s Finest, saying they faced a chaotic situation that could have very quickly escalated.
“NYPD Chief Aaron Edwards and Sergeant Luis Navarro ran towards the danger so that others could run to safety,” she said.
“That is courage, that is selflessness, and I am deeply grateful to both of them and to every member of the NYPD who works every single day to keep New Yorkers safe.”
