New photos show the sickening moment a California man launched a savage assault on a female Safeway employee in San Francisco.

Kwontell Summerfield, 28, of Sacramento County attacked the unidentified woman inside a store in the city’s Ocean Beach neighborhood around 5:30 a.m. Nov. 10, according to authorities and the San Francisco Chronicle.

It is not clear why Summerfield allegedly went after the woman — but the chilling photos obtained by ABC 7 News show him holding her by the head as she sits on the ground, his other hand raised as if to hit her.

Another snapshot — captured by the store’s surveillance camera — allegedly shows Summerfield dragging her by the hair across the floor and into another room.

Cops showed up after someone called 911 to report the assault and found the injured victim.

Paramedics brought her to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the Chronicle said.

Authorities caught up with Summerfield later that day, arrested him and slapped him with two felonies: second-degree robbery and assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury.

He pleaded not guilty in court Thursday, ABC said.

The full video — which ABC did not publish — allegedly showed Summerfield punching the woman to the ground before pummeling her and dragging her off.

He fled after someone walked into the area.

The local district attorney said the suspect — who is still locked up in San Francisco County Jail — will appear in court Monday for a custody status hearing.

Shoppers who frequent the store remained horrified that such a thing could happen.

“I don’t understand it,” said customer Anne Randolph. “I don’t understand why someone would hurt somebody for some … whatever they were doing, they could have walked around her, they could have left her alone.”

Another woman told the network, “It was violent, and it was scary.

“I thought, ‘Wow, oh my gosh, if that was me or someone I loved, I’d be terrified.’ ”

In a statement, Safeway told ABC that it was “sending our thoughts to the associate involved in the incident.

“We take this matter seriously, and we are cooperating with law enforcement to provide any information needed to assist them,” the company said.

Mark Avery, another shopper, looked at it as a sign of the times.

“Seeing too many of those types of situations where there is an uncalled-for attack on an innocent person,” he said.
