This was one expensive drive-thru.
A 21-year-old Florida man stole a high-end Rolls-Royce from a Fort Lauderdale beach resort and slammed the pricey wheels into a Checkers fast-food restaurant, WTVJ-TV News reported.
Malik Patterson hopped behind the wheel outside the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday and took off — but was quickly spotted by cops, authorities said.
Fort Lauderdale police said they didn’t try to chase the stolen white Rolls-Royce Cullinan, but Patterson allegedly lost control of the car and smashed it into the eatery on Broward Boulevard, the outlet said.
The restaurant was open for business but cops said no one was hurt in the mishap.
“I’m definitely not shocked,” the restaurant owner, who asked not to be identified, told WTVJ. “It is a Rolls-Royce and people like to steal things and do a little bit of a joy ride.
“But this joy ride right here, not too fun for this person ’cause he’s locked up and the car’s totaled,” the owner said. “What are you gonna do?”
According to dealership listings, the Cullinan typically sells for upwards of $400,000, and can top off at $500,000 with perks and accessories.
Police said officers took Patterson into custody near the wrecked Rolls.
Online records show that he is being held at the Broward County Jail on a $5,000 bond on grand theft auto charges and is awaiting a court appearance.
According to the news outlet, he has outstanding warrants in Florida and California.
Police did not release details surrounding the theft of the car from the Hilton parking lot.
