Talk about baaa-d to the bone.

A sheep that was on the lam for a short time in Michigan was wrangled by authorities — but not before ramming a state trooper in an attempt to extend its short-lived independence.

The Michigan State Police shared a video of the encounter on its X account.

“A trooper from the MSP Gaylord Post was called to a report of a sheep on the loose,” the MSP post said.

“The sheep tested its strength and rammed the trooper. The sheep lost.”

The responding trooper exited his patrol car and stood just off to the side to apprehend the sheep. The mutton approached him warily, seeming to size him up before charging at the trooper’s legs.

The force actually pushed the trooper back a bit before he grabbed the scruff of the sheep’s neck. The disgruntled sheep surrendered from there as the trooper led it out of the frame to the back of the car.

Ever the escape artists, sheep are masters at getting themselves precisely where they shouldn’t be. In August, a homeowner in England found four sheep that she didn’t own stuck on her roof.

Sheep, as a prey species, rarely travel alone and rely on their flock for survival. The lone sheep that thought it could take down a trooper serves as an uncharacteristically bold outlier.
