A 15-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in the heart by a group of teenage attackers while he was on a Valentine’s Day date at a California mall.
David Gutierrez was with his girlfriend in Santa Clara when the gang of teens beat him and stabbed him in the heart, his family wrote on a GoFundMe page.
“David fought for his life but didn’t make it to surgery,” his family wrote on the fundraiser to cover his funeral expenses.
San José police responded to reports of a fight just after 7 p.m. on Feb. 14 and discovered the teen victim “suffering from at least one stab wound,” police wrote in a press release.
First responders attempted life-saving measures, but the teen succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.
The teenage suspects, who have not been identified, fled the scene after the vicious attack.
No arrests have been made, police said.
The teen was remembered by friends and family as an “amazing” young man who was involved in his church and enjoyed working out at a local boxing gym, ABC 7 reported.
“Our precious young boy is an amazing young man whose life was taken too soon at the young age of 15. He was enrolled in college-bound classes to help him prepare for college. He was active in the community church activities,” his devastated family said in a statement.
David’s family described him as “kind, empathetic, with a gentle demeanor. He was his family’s happy energy, whenever he walked into a room it simply lit up.”
Police have not shared any possible motive in his killing, while his family said, “we are at a complete loss and trying to process this incomprehensible act of violence.”
