Fan-favorite grocery chain Trader Joe’s is doubling down on Southern California, with two new stores set to open as part of a nationwide expansion blitz.
The cult-loved retailer confirmed it’s bringing new locations to Paso Robles and Anaheim Hills, giving shoppers in both communities fresh access to its famously quirky, budget-friendly offerings.
The move is part of a broader growth push that will see the company roll out about 20 new stores across the country in 2026, building on a rapid expansion streak that picked up speed late last year.

In fact, the grocer opened 11 locations in just the final two months of 2025 alone.
This late-year surge was part of a larger 2025 expansion that saw a total of 43 new locations open nationwide.
But Trader Joe’s isn’t your average supermarket, and its appeal goes far beyond low prices.
The California-born chain, which first launched in Pasadena in 1967, has built a near cult following around its ever-changing lineup of seasonal items and viral products.

Every winter, shoppers race to grab the tiny Grinch Tree, a whimsical, bright-green plant styled after the Dr. Seuss character that often sells out within days.
Fall shelves are packed with pumpkin-spice everything, while summer brings a rotating cast of limited-time snacks that vanish almost as quickly as they appear.

Even the store’s reusable tote bags have become a phenomenon.
Cheap, colorful and often released in limited runs, the bags routinely spark buying frenzies, with fans lining up, and in some cases reselling them online, to get their hands on the latest version.
Then there are the flowers.
Trader Joe’s has quietly become a go-to for budget-friendly bouquets, with fresh arrangements priced far below traditional florists, making them a staple for shoppers looking for an easy, affordable upgrade to their grocery run.
That combination of quirky exclusives and bargain pricing has turned the store into a destination in its own right. And as grocery prices remain stubbornly high, that kind of loyalty is exactly what the company is betting on.
