Trump Reveals Who Will Lead His Transition Team If He Wins

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump revealed on Friday that two major donors and two of his sons will lead his transition team if he wins a second term in the White House.

Trump tapped former Small Business Administration (SBA) head Linda McMahon and businessman Howard Lutnick to lead the transition team. Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), and his sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, will serve as “honorary chairs” of the team, The Hill reported.

“The 2024 GOP Platform to Make America Great Again is a forward-looking agenda that will deliver safety, prosperity and freedom for the American people. My administration will deliver on these bold promises,” Trump said in a statement. “We will restore strength, competence and common sense to the Oval Office. I have absolute confidence the Trump-Vance Administration will be ready to govern effectively on Day One.”

McMahon, the wife of former WWE CEO Vince McMahon, led the SBA during Trump’s first term in office and has recently been in charge of the pro-Trump think tank America First Policy Institute. Lutnick, the billionaire head of financial firm Cantor Fitzgerald, hosted a fundraiser for Trump earlier this month where around 100 people joined the Republican nominee in the Hamptons, according to Bloomberg.

Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump held influential positions in their father’s first administration and would once again take on advisory roles if Trump wins in November. Donald Jr. said during the Republican National Convention that he wants “veto power” over who his father picks to serve in a second Trump administration.

“I want to block the liars. I want to block the guys that are, you know, pretending they’re with you. I just want to block the bad actors. I just want to be a block. That’s it,” he said. Donald Jr. and Eric reportedly urged their father to select Vance as his running mate.

Trump’s selection of two business-oriented supporters to lead his transition team comes as no surprise as the former president seeks to hammer home his message on the economy on the campaign trail. This week, the Republican nominee held an event in North Carolina and a press conference in New Jersey where he slammed the Biden-Harris administration’s handling of the economy and inflation.

In Asheville, North Carolina, Trump called on his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, to “explain” the economic “suffering” Americans currently face.

“Kamala Harris wants to talk about her fantasies … she wants to talk for the future about these fantasies, but really what she needs to explain is the present suffering that she has caused along with Joe Biden,” Trump said.

Harris was blasted earlier this week for proposing price controls to address inflation, blaming cost increases on “corporate greed” and ignoring the Biden-Harris administration’s economic and energy policies.

“Now Kamala is reportedly proposing communist price controls, she wants price controls,” Trump said on Thursday at his press conference in Bedminster, New Jersey. “And if they worked, I’d go along with it, too, but they don’t work. They exactly have the exact opposite impact and effect … it leads to food shortages, rationing, hunger, dramatically more inflation.”
