A nutjob whacked a 71-year-old man in the face with a shovel during a random attack in Brooklyn while the Big Apple was blanketed in snow, police said.
The attacker crept up and said nothing when he smashed the elderly victim in the head during the terrifying assault near Stryker Court and West 1st Street in Gravesend around 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 27, according to officials.

The thug then fled the scene, taking off in an unknown direction.
Medics rushed the injured septuagenarian to NYC Health and Hospitals/Coney Island in stable condition.

The perp has yet to be caught as of Sunday afternoon.
Police released surveillance footage of the suspect, hoping to track him down.
