Even liberal “Saturday Night Live” had to make fun of Tim Walz’s debate performance.
The left-loving comedy show roasted Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and her political sidekick by portraying her as having to cope with wine to get through his debate performance against GOP veep foe JD Vance last week.
Comedian Maya Rudolph reprised her role as Harris, sitting on a couch next to colleague Andy Samberg playing the veep’s husband Doug Emhoff as the pair pretended to watch the debate in horror.
“OK, OK. He’s out there just doing his thing, whatever that may be,” Rudolph’s Harris tried to reassure herself while making use of her wine and laughing nervously.
She very quickly began having regrets about not choosing “Josh” — supposedly referring to the kind of cabernet, not Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D), who had been in the top running along with Walz for her running mate.
Samberg’s Emhoff tried to assure her that Walz wouldn’t “say something crazy.” Then comedian Jim Gaffigan’s Walz repeated one of the veep’s big blunders from last week’s verbal bout.
“I’ve become friends with school shooters,” Gaffigan’s Walz blurted out, prompting Rudolph’s Harris to break her wine glass in distress.
Samberg’s Emhoff quickly conceded, “As a goofy white guy, this really sends my fellows back.”
During the faux Harris’s reeling from her running mate’s performance and peculiar “vibing” with Vance onstage, a doddery President Biden played by Dana Carvey strolled into the room, seemingly unaware of where he was.
“You’re not here, I’ll come back later,” Carvey’s clueless Biden said to Rudolph’s Harris, who guided him to the couch.
“Come on, Walz. What’s wrong with that guy? He’s crazy. Get your facts straight, Jack. You got to hit with a, ‘No Joe, here’s the deal, et me be clear,’” he added, using Biden’s go-to crutch lines. “And by the way, you should be talking about all the great things we’ve done.”
Comedian Bowen Yang’s Vance also mocked the Ohio senator for his defense of former President Donald Trump’s handling of the Affordable Care Act and the assertion that Trump “peacefully gave over power” after losing the 2020 election.
“We said no fact-checking,” the Vance character said.
Gaffigan’s Walz replied without missing a beat, “If we’re allowed to stand up here and lie, then I would like to say I actually was in Tiananmen Square,” alluding to the Minnesota governor’s falsehoods about being in Hong Kong during the infamous deadly crackdown.
At the conclusion of the spoof debate, “SNL” mocked Vance for dodging a question about whether Trump would admit to losing the election.

“I’m focused on the future,” Yang’s Vance said while wincing as the faux Walz erupted in joy.
Rudolph’s Harris then observed, “Well, this is a huge victory, it made no difference.”
Carvey’s Biden sat there chowing down ice cream in amusement before giving a pep talk that turned out to be a bit backhanded.
“Here’s the deal,” he began with a stone-faced look. “The vice president doesn’t matter.
“I mean who the hell was Obama’s VP? Nobody knows,” said “Biden” — who was former President Barack Obama’s vice president.
“You’re going to make a great president,” he told Harris’s character. “When you’re done, it will be my turn. Biden 2028.”
