Former President Donald Trump paused during his rally in Arizona to laud a female supporter with compliments while taking shots at what modern political correctness has become.
Trump parked his campaign tour in the swing state on Sunday, aiming to convince his supporters to flip the state back to red after it went to President Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
The former president was discussing his crowd sizes at rallies when a woman in the audience shouted that it was “Because we love you!”
The crowd erupted in applause as Trump scanned the crowd for the source of the praise.
“Where is that woman? Stand up! Look at her. Wow! I would say — that’s beautiful,” Trump said.
“Is she your wife? You know what? I would say she’s a beautiful woman but if I did say that — my political career, you’re not allowed to say that. So I’m not allowed to call you a beautiful woman.”
He turned away as if he were finished before whispering “But she is!”
“It’s crazy what’s gone on! You have to be politically correct, nowadays.”
Trump often harps on his distaste for “PC culture,” often likening it to a widespread virus taking over.
Trump then continued on with his rally, pledging to bolster the border patrol staff with up to 10,000 new agents if he is reelected. There are roughly 20,000 total employees currently. He claimed that he would do this by asking Congress to fund a 10% pay rise for the agents on top of a $10,000 retention and signing bonus.
Democrats have argued that Trump helped kill a bipartisan border security bill earlier this year that would have provided funding to hire up to 1,500 extra customs and border patrol agents and 1,600 asylum officers.
A record-high of nearly 7 million immigrants have crossed the U.S.-Mexico border illegally under the Biden Administration, according to government data.
Vice President Kamala Harris, dubbed the ‘Border Czar’, has called for tighter border security as one of her top priorities. On Friday, Trump called for the death penalty for any illegal immigrant who kills an American citizen.
