Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: The UConn Huskies are a runaway favorite to win the Women’s NCAA Tournament.
The Huskies are a ridiculous -280 favorite at FanDuel Sportsbook, meaning they’ve been tagged with a 40.8 percent chance of winning the title when you convert the odds to implied probability.
That is a steep price to pay in a single-elimination tournament that requires you to win six games, but there’s no denying that UConn is in rarefied air this season. Not only are the Huskies 34-0 in 2025-26, but they are the defending champions and have won 49 straight going back to the middle of last campaign.
Although UConn is the runaway favorite to cut down the nets in Phoenix, there are some critics who wonder if the Huskies’ overall record is padded thanks to a soft schedule compared to some of the other elite programs.

According to NET ratings, UConn played the 48th-toughest schedule in the country, which pales in comparison to some of the other juggernauts like UCLA (sixth), South Carolina (first), and Texas (second).
UCLA, which capped off a 31-1 season with a 51-point victory in the Big Ten Championship over Iowa, is +550 to win the title. The Bruins, who have never won a national championship in women’s basketball, are the No. 2 team in Bart Torvik’s power rankings behind UConn.
The Texas Longhorns are the third favorite at +850. The Longhorns (31-3) won the SEC Championship in emphatic fashion, dispatching South Carolina, 78-61, in the final.
The Gamecocks (31-3) are the fourth favorite at 10/1.
UCLA, Texas, and South Carolina joined UConn as the No. 1 seeds for this year’s tournament.
Two other SEC squads, LSU (22/1) and Vanderbilt (60/1), round out the top-six on the oddsboard. There are no other teams under 100/1.
