Aaron Judge is coming off perhaps the best offensive season of a player in his age-33 season in nearly a century, with only Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth putting up better overall numbers.
No one was as close to as vital to the Yankees’ success in 2025 as Judge, who has hit more than 50 home runs in three of the past four seasons — and would have certainly made it four straight without the toe injury that upended the 2023 season, for him and the team.
And while any team would be reliant on Judge, the Yankees may not be able to pencil him in for similar off-the-charts production for much longer.
After all, the captain will turn 34 in April and only three players in MLB history have reached the 50-homer milestone at that age: Mark McGwire (who hit a PED-fueled 70 homers in 1998), Willie Mays and Johnny Mize.
