Archie Manning is backpedaling a little on his wishes for his grandson Arch to play for the Cowboys.
Over the weekend, a clip went viral on TikTok where Archie was sitting at a sports bar and a fan approached him and asked him where he’d like Arch to land in the NFL.
After saying that he hoped his grandson plays at Texas for three years, Archie said would like the Cowboys to be the professional destination.
Sports Illustrated caught up with Archie and asked him about the clip.
“That is something that kind of got out of hand. I was just at a sports bar in New Orleans and I was just trying to be nice to a patron,” the Manning family patriarch said.
“I didn’t know he was going to put that on TikTok or whatever TikTok is. I didn’t know it would go viral, as they say.”
Arch Manning is the son of Cooper and nephew of Peyton and Eli.
He is in his second season at Texas where he has mostly backed up Quinn Ewers.
Manning started two game this year, against UL Monroe and Mississippi State, when Ewers was hurt and looked strong.
He’s also appeared in six other games this season.
In aggregate, Manning is 61-for-90 for 939 yards with nine touchdowns and two interceptions.
He has also run the ball 21 times for 100 yards and four touchdowns.
Texas plays Clemson in the first round of the College Football Playoffs on Dec. 21 after Ewers and the Longhorns offense struggled in a 22-19 overtime loss to Georgia in the SEC Championship.
In the video that went viral over the weekend, Archie was asked about where he’d like to see Arch play professionally.
“I hope he’ll play three years in Texas,” Archie responded, and thought about the rest of his answer.
“It’s funny, nobody’s ever asked me that. Right off the bat, if somebody asked me, I’d say Cowboys.”
