Bears players meet with offensive coordinator over frustration: ‘We’re not a Pop Warner team’

The Chicago Bears aren’t waiting for their issues to get worse.

According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, 40-year-old tight end Marcedes Lewis, position-mate and starter Cole Kmet, as well as rookie starting quarterback Caleb Williams, met with Bears offensive coordinator Shane Waldron to discuss the team’s early season offensive struggles.

“We’re not a Pop Warner team. You’ve got to coach us up. Coach me up even though I’m in year 19. Coach up Caleb even though he’s a rookie,” Lewis said in the meeting, according to Glazer.

Points have been hard to come by for the Bears to start the season.

The team was 1-2 entering Sunday’s home game against the Rams and had only broken the 20-point threshold once.

Bears punter Tory Taylor has already punted 15 times across the three contests.

Williams had been limited offensively, completing 70 passes on 118 attempts, recording 630 passing yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions.

The Bears’ leading receiver, DJ Moore, had only racked up 167 yards on 19 catches.

And the team also wasn’t wildly productive on the ground, recording just 218 rushing yards on 72 carries.

Notably, starting running back D’Andre Swift had 68 rushing yards on 37 carries.

Chicago led Los Angeles 10-6 at halftime on Sunday despite producing only 97 yards of offense.
