Bill Belichick made his surprise foray into Instagram in the most Bill Belichick way possible and immediately dropped a post with his girlfriend Jordon Hudson.
The six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach announced his new Instagram account Wednesday on “The Pat McAfee Show” — on which he will be a weekly guest on Mondays this NFL season.
“Pat, I can’t really believe I’m doing this but I’ve joined InstaFace,” Belichick said.
The 72-year-old Belichick — or whoever is running his account — seems to be getting the hang of it as his first Instagram Story was a re-sharing Hudson’s post of him and the 23-year-old petting a goat at the United States Naval Academy.
On her post, the former coach wrote:
I will leave the “Billy-Goat-ing” to @bill.t.goat at the @usnavalacademy,” he wrote. “Thanks for the warm reception, J!”
It’s Belichick’s first public recognition of the relationship since the two started dating in 2022 — though they have been photographed together before.
News of their relationship became public in June.
The former college cheerleader had a big smile while petting the Naval Academy mascot wearing a knee-length white dress with open-toed sandals.
Navy hosted Bucknell on Saturday, so the photo is potentially from that game.
Belichick’s father Steve was a Navy assistant coach from 1956-89.
Belichick got a big reaction from a clapping McAfee, who had a little fun with the ex-Patriots coach’s history of combining the most prominent social media platforms, after the announcement.
“He’s on InstaFace,” McAfee said. “He’s gonna be tweeting on InstaFace.”
Belichick’s first post, around 4 p.m., announced his arrival on the platform to probably surprised fans. His account had around 80,000 followers an hour later.
“Over the past few months, and not being with a team I haven’t had the opportunity to express my thoughts at a moment’s notice,” Belichick said in a video post. “So now I’m changing that. I tried to join SnapFace, but I couldn’t find it. I decided this was a good place to land so I can talk you and show you what I’m up to.”
Belichick coached 24 seasons in New England and reached the Super Bowl nine times, but saw his tenure end after finishing over .500 just once in his final four seasons — including a 4-13 campaign a year ago.
During this cycle, he was shut out of a head coaching job and has jumped into sports media — and now social media.
