Bob Myers is almost certainly going to the Naismith Hall of Fame someday, and on merit.
He put together the Golden State Warriors (though he inherited the most important piece, Steph Curry), then kept tweaking them, kept adding on and replacing pieces, and is largely responsible for four NBA championship banners at the Warriors’ sparkling new facility, Chase Center in downtown San Francisco.
He works for ESPN now and is a mostly engaging, mostly insightful and occasionally funny part of the network’s NBA coverage. But Myers had this to say at halftime of the 76ers-Celtics game, after a package of highlights from Knicks 117, Spurs 114, mostly addressing the panel’s designated Knicks fan, Stephen A. Smith:
“Listen, listen,” he said. “The Knicks: good win. They should be better than they are. They should be better than this record right now, 20-10. I had high hopes for them. They’re up and down, Stephen A! Up and down. Inconsistent.”
