‘Boring’ Nick Sirianni fueling Eagles’ turnaround to quiet calls for his firing

A month into the season, Nick Sirianni looked like a goner.

Here’s a sample of some of the headlines from a Google search involving the Eagles’ sometimes-combative head coach:

  • “Philadelphia Eagles fans WANT NICK SIRIANNI FIRED’’
  • “Nick Sirianni’s seat gets hotter after questionable calls’’
  • “No logical upside to keeping Sirianni’’
  • And then this one: “Nick Sirianni apologizes for his behavior toward Eagles fans’’

That last one was Oct. 13 when Sirianni taunted a group of Eagles fans who were riding him with “Fire Nick’’ chants after Philly barely defeated a bad Browns team, 20-16 at home.

The Eagles, still smarting from their 2023 collapse following a 10-1 start that left them 11-6 and bounced from the playoffs in the wild-card round, were 3-2 and struggling.
