First, he changed his heart. Now, he’s following it.

Carson Beck, two-year starter for the Georgia Bulldogs, announced he is taking his talents to South Beach — the University of Miami, specifically — in an Instagram post Thursday.

Beck, 23, declared for the 2025 NFL Draft in late-December, then changed course and announced he was entering the transfer portal Thursday.

Miami was projected as Beck’s favorite landing spot, and his commitment Friday cements the move.

In Miami, he’ll join a football program that recently lost its starter — Cam Ward — and an athletic program that already boasts his girlfriend, Hanna Cavinder, a guard on the Hurricanes’ basketball team.

“It’s a great day to be a Miami Hurricane,” Cavinder wrote on X on Friday.

A great day at the tail-end of an unequivocal whirlwind.

Nonetheless, Miami makes for a great fit — and for reasons that go well beyond the college romance.

Mario Cristobal and the ‘Canes have a gaping Ward-sized hole, with their 2024 starter — the NCAA Division I’s all-time leader in touchdown passes — expected to go at or near the top of the upcoming NFL draft.

Ward is a special talent, and there’s no one in the transfer portal that will be able to bring all he offered back to Miami’s offense.

But in Beck — with 7,912 yards and 58 touchdowns to his name, plus a career record of 23-3 as a starter — the Hurricanes have landed a proven arm and winner.

Assuming, of course, he’s able to come back healthy.

Beck injured his throwing elbow on the final play of Georgia’s SEC championship victory over Texas on Dec. 7 and did not play in the Bulldogs’ loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the CFP Quarterfinal game at the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

He had surgery on the arm around the end of December.

As a result of the injury, Beck was told he would not be able to throw again until March.

And after declaring for the draft, he reportedly received feedback that uncertainty spurring from that injury was going to hurt his stock

The 2025 season will be Beck’s final year of eligibility.
