College football betting, odds: Villanova causes one of the worst bad beats you’ll see this year in college football
For most of the game Saturday, there wasn’t a lot for Villanova fans to cheer about Saturday against No. 2 Penn State. The Nittany Lions were up 21-0 at halftime, 52-0 late in the fourth quarter and Villanova had under 200 yards of offense.
But on fourth-and-goal at the Penn State 8-yard line on the final play of the game, Wildcats QB Tanner Maddocks rolled to his right and threw a pass to WR Brandon Binkowski — who made a ridiculous one-handed grab for the touchdown.
Why do we care?

Well, that’s because Penn State was a 47.5-point favorite at most sportsbooks, and that TD made the score 52-6 — a 46-point margin. That means Villanova covered the spread in the game, despite not covering for literally one second of the game.
The extra point wasn’t kicked because the final-play TD had no bearing on the outcome of the game — just don’t tell that to Penn State backers.
Penn State moved to 0-3 against the spread this season.
