Jed Hoyer is sticking in Chicago for the foreseeable future.

The Cubs reached a multi-year extension with their president of baseball operations on Monday afternoon, according to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman. His current deal with the Cubs was set to expire after this season. Specifics of his new contract are not yet known.

Hoyer has been with the Cubs since 2011, when he joined the franchise alongside then-president Theo Epstein as their general manager. The duo helped orchestrate the Cubs’ World Series win in 2016, too, which snapped their century-long championship drought. Hoyer then took over as the team’s president after the 2020 season when Epstein resigned.

Though the Cubs haven’t made the playoffs under Hoyer’s leadership in the role yet, the team holds a 62-43 record entering Monday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers. They are tied for first in the NL Central race with the Brewers, too, which is something they haven’t won since 2020.
