Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones has been one of the best stories to come out of the 2025 NFL season. After being cast off from the New York Giants, Jones has experienced a resurgence with the Colts. Thanks to him, the team sits at 8-3 and in a prime playoff spot after 11 games.
But Jones’ excellence may have hit a road block ahead of Week 13. Jones reportedly has a broken fibula, though intends to keep playing through the injury, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Jones popped up on the team’s injury report Wednesday due to an unspecified injury. He was listed as a limited participant in practice. Despite the injury, Jones managed to get through a full practice Thursday, a sign that he’ll play when the Colts take on the Houston Texans on Sunday.

Losing Jones for any stretch would be significant. The passer has seen his numbers take a big step forward this season. Jones is on pace for his best yardage total, completion percentage and success rate this season. His ability as a dual rusher has added another aspect to the Colts’ offense, taking defensive attention away from running back Jonathan Taylor.
With Jones intent on playing, the Colts might be able to get by without missing a beat. But if the quarterback struggles due to the injury, that could force the team to re-think its decision to let Jones play through the issue.
Through 11 games, the Colts look like a possible Super Bowl contender. The team needs to make sure it takes the necessary steps to stay in that position so it can be at 100 percent when the games really start to matter.
