Right before players begin to take the field for the first time, the Giants face their first crisis in the John Harbaugh era.

Dexter Lawrence requested a trade from the Giants and will skip the voluntary portion of the offseason program, The Post’s Paul Schwartz confirmed.

So, what does it mean? How did we get here? And what comes next?

Let’s start with the obvious. What does it mean? Lawrence probably just wants more money. He has previously said that he wants to retire with the Giants and end up in their Ring of Honor. Sure, the losing had likely worn on him and seeing some of the teammates he was close with leave could have bothered him. But his discontent seems largely to be financial.
