Dylan Darling’s iconic March Madness shot will live on forever at St. John’s

SAN DIEGO — You’ll see this one again, time and again, year after year. What was the single most memorable shot in St. John’s history before 7:30 or so last night? We can talk about that another time.

We have a new answer now.

And it’ll probably stay like that for a long while. We have Dylan Darling, at the buzzer, delivering the Johnnies this remarkable 67-65 victory, delivering them to the East Regional semifinals next Friday, delivering them to Washington, D.C., delivering them Duke.

Darling hadn’t made a shot in what felt like a month. He made this one. He called his number at the end, he made a beeline for the basket, and he took the shot with his right hand, which happens to be his off hand.
